Experience:

I’m one of those old timers that actually made the transition from Novell to Microsoft in the late part of the last decade. I’ve been working in IT since early 1990 with NetWare, Dos and ArcNet. Can any of you remember that far back? Well a lot has changed since that time but still there are lessons to remember and pitfalls to avoid.

It seems the more advances we make the more IT resembles the old days with command line options and features that simply don’t work as advertised. Hopefully, you’ll find some use for the information I post regarding old and new projects alike.

I’ve worked in Central IT for large organizations and in distributed IT environments with less the 1000 users. Regardless of the size of the organization each needs a managed IT approach to leverage IT’s value to the business.

I’ll share with you some of my successful and unsuccessful attempts to leverage IT’s value to the business starting with secure networks, Managed desktops, Email migrations, Service Desk Management, Content management systems, and ITIL.

Besides my IT and Business ramblings here are other things that occupy my time and interest.

Hobbies: Golf, Cars and tracking them, swimming, snorkeling, traveling, and enjoying these with family and friends.

Interests: Fine cigars, Scotch, Wine, good beer, and technology.
